Our fourth of July cook out this year was an especially bittersweet one as we bid farewell to Lou and Aileen Lozzi. These dear friends and neighbors have been faithful in serving us over the years in many ways and we wanted to honor them with a celebration and and a song written for the occasion: "Lou, will you dig? Lou, will you plow?....Aileen will you drive? This week there's only five, Visits to our dear MD's..." Afterwards they regaled us with stories of the years they have been coming to the Abbey to help out. Lou began at the age of fourteen to work with Brs Dominic and Matthew on the farm. Aileen remembers living her whole life within earshot of the Abbey bells. Now they are looking towards a new adventure in their new home in Lancaster, PA, though they expect to be similarly involved putting their skills to good use in serving the local Amish community there.
