On August 31, we celebrated our 75th Jubilee, as well as the Jubilee of Vows of three of our sisters.
Bishop Robert Reed presided at the Mass, enlivening us with his energetic style and spirit-filled words.
Also present were family and friends of our Jubilarians and of our community, our Lay Associates, local religious and priests, including Father Bob Beirne from Rhode Island, who was present (at the age of 10) when our founding sisters arrived on October 1, 1949. What a privilege to have him present with us and hear his strong voice proclaiming the Gospel! So many guests came, in fact that we filled every pew, every choir stall, and even had a live feed to the chapter room!
After Mass, we went over to the grounds of McMahon's retreat house, where an enormous tent sheltered us while we ate a delicious meal and enjoyed each other's company.
Truly, this monastic community would not be what it is today without the help and support over many decades of those who have prayed with us, served us and given the irreplaceable gift of friendship.
