“OSacred Lord of Ancient Israel, who showed yourself to Moses in the fire of the burning bush, who gave him the holy law on Sinai mountain: come, with outstretched arms and set us free.”
Laudato si' – Praise be to you ~ Ruler of the House of Israel!
A fire – a holy fire - which shows your energy, your light, your illumination and showed itself as a wonderful image of your glory. You made Moses aware of your holiness through this burning bush, but then did not desert him – you were with him as he accomplished the mission you gave him.
Fire once a gift given to our ancestors was a simple, natural, and welcoming gift. Two sticks made from branches rubbed together causing heat and a spark lighting the leaves below giving warmth and heat for cooking simple bush meals.
Shout to the Lord all the earth and ring out your joy at this newfound gift.
But wait – this same flame of love, in the burning bush, the same little flame used to warm and feed your people, our ancient ancestors, has become an instrument of tragedy, cruelty and selfishness.
Tragedy – where wildfires, lit through carelessness, have changed, and confused our natural habitat in so many places and we human beings are the number one cause of these wildfires. Come, save your people from destruction caused through human carelessness and frailty.
Cruelty – bombs dropping and burning people, homes, and lands. O come, you who appeared to Moses in a gentle burning bush and save us from ourselves and self-destruction. You look down from heaven to earth – you see our plight – we need your help anew - help us, O Sacred Lord of Ancient Israel.
Selfishness – more and more we are beginning to understand that we are the cause of the rising temperatures of our earth and the very slow destruction of our planet. O come, renew the face of the earth, O Sacred Lord of Ancient Israel, and our Lord of heaven and of our beautiful earth.
STOP LISTEN
I am sending you someone greater than Moses whose heart will be a burning heart of love, for I do hear your cries – and he, the one I send, longs to be one with you in all your joys and troubles. How beautiful upon the mountains will be the feet of him, the one I send, who will bring glad tidings, announcing peace and bearing good news – he will be a living flame of love.
” O living flame of love, Jesus, come with outstretched arms and set us free.”
How will we hear him speak to us – will he speak through a burning bush as you spoke to Moses? “No, reach out your cradled hands each day and receive the Living Flame of Life” - “This is my body”
He will speak deep within the silence of your hearts – you must listen carefully with each passing day and you will know that you are in the presence of your God.”
Praise be to you ~ Jesus our Living Flame of Love!
How wonderful is your love, a living flame of love – far beyond our understanding.
