Bishop Robert Reed, recently ordained auxiliary bishop of the Boston Archdiocese and assigned to oversee the West region, in which our monastery is located, came for Mass and dinner.
We enjoyed his delightful presence and his many stories. Of particular note was that, unbeknowst to us, then-Father Reed had spent about six hours in our chapel on June 2nd this past year, in order to prepare himself for the announcement of his appointment as bishop the following day!
Bishop Reed happened to mention in his homily at Mass the great fascination he has had since he was a boy with the Temple, and how the Eucharist makes present and transforms this reality for us today. So, our postulant Ashwini was very happy to share the fruit of her own fascination with the same topic - our creche scene, which is similataneously Holy of Holies and Straw-filled Stable.
