Diamond Jubilee of Profession

On January 9th, 1965, Sr Mary-Ellen made her First Vows as a Sister of Loretto in Australia.  60 years later, after 20 years as a missionary sister in her native country, and more than 40 years as a Cistercian nun at Wrentham, we celebrate her life of dedication to the Lord Jesus.

Sister chose a "quiet" in-house celebration, which included a special Mass, with her favorite music, a special midday meal, with her favorite food (scalloped potatoes and green beans!) and a special Chapter, in which she shared some of the wisdom and spiritual insight gleaned from her many years of service in the Lord's vineyard.

One quirky element of today's celebration included the replacement of the usual jubilarian's corsage (how embarrassing!) with happy Australia-themed stickers, which all the sisters joined her in wearing for the day.  A good time was had by all.  And I think we can agree that Diamonds are the Lord's best friends!
