Each November 13th, we celebrate all the saints of our Benedictine/Cistercian tradition with a spot of entertainment from the novitiate. This year, Sr Bonitas (novice director), Sr Maria Girza, Erin and Lily took us on a "Home Odessey" (sic) through the history of our community.
We begin with the foundresses from Glencairn, Ireland, crossing the Atlantic on the Britannic, making time for tea on board.
Mother Angela, our first American superior, led the community through the period of post-conciliar renewal. Now the sisters are on USS Wrentham, journeying through choppy waters and looking for the land of authentic monastic living in the present day.
Mother Agnes joins the sisters in their chant practice, only to offer her own song - a poem about the multifaceted and rich experience of prayer within and beyond the liturgy.
Mother Maureen's election and term as abbess is illustrated by a very elegant and expressive dance, in which her prayer alternates with that of the community.
