On April 6th, Saturday of the Octave of Easter, our Sr Jennifer made her final commitment to Cistercian monastic life at Mt St Mary's Abbey.
In the course of the ceremony, Sr Jennifer made her profession of Solemn Vows, signing her vow schedule on the altar, where it remained throughout the liturgy of the Eucharist.
She received Monastic Consecration at the hands of Dom Vincent Rogers, OCSO, Abbot of Spencer and Father Immediate of our Abbey.
Finally, she was clothed by Mother Sofia in the characteristic garments of a Cistercian nun - the white cowl and the black veil - and welcomed into the community by each Solemnly Professed sister.
Present for this joyful occasion, in addition to our brothers of St Joseph's Abbey, Spencer, were Sr Jennifer's family and friends, including Amy Kercsmar, who enriched our liturgy with her harp music, and the Most Reverend Robert Brennan, Bishop of Brooklyn, a fellow-parioshioner at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, Lindenhurst, NY, who gave the solemn blessing at the conclusion of Mass.
In Sr Jennifer's own words: "Thanks be to God for the grace of a vocation so great and so simple. May his endless desire for me draw me ever more deeply into the heart of his love."
